Texas-born, California-based musician, producer, and visual artist Lee Duck has created a most interesting project he calls ‘Melde’. In it, he combines elements of industrial dance and techno with sound experimentation and noise manipulation. It harkens back to the days of dance clubs in NYC and underground raves while bringing a new twist and personality to the feel. A multitude of influences set the stage for a unique outlook.
The layers of sounds from varied sources are very well constructed. Dirty guitar riffs, lush synth beds, driving beats, and a kaleidoscopic of sampled sounds combine to deliver something wholly interesting and immersive. The production is fantastic as well. You feel as though you’re in large rooms surrounded by otherworldly sonic textures. Comforting at times. Disturbing at times. Either way, it grabs you.
‘Learning to Feel’ by Melde is available now on Bandcamp.
