Corzine’s Plan Affects NJ Gambling Industry

Why be concerned about being able to play the slots or buy a lottery ticket?

Some folks—especially Corzine supporters—have said that it is superficial to be concerned about Atlantic City and the Lottery being victims of the state’s shutdown. As much fun as it is for grandma to go to Atlantic City for the day, spin doctors are hiding the bigger picture in a muck of misguided opinions.

Mine is not an argument for not being able to gamble or have fun. It is an argument against the loss of tens of millions of dollars a week in state revenue. That’s right, STATE REVENUE! Think about it, it’s that loss of money that will further fuel Corzine’s push for raising taxes.

Again I have to ask how losing so much money could possibly help the state’s budget. So when someone says that it is wrong to be so concerned about not being able to buy your Mega Millions ticket, you tell them how a large portion of that dollar would have gone to the state.
