Graz Austria: 2003 Cultural Capital of Europe

A very inspirational trip

This is the year that Graz was named the Cultural Capital of Europe. We were given the opportunity to be American Cultural Delegates of sorts. What follows is my personal recounting of the time spent in this remarkable little city with Eric, his wife Hilary and a multitude of new friends.


UK Tourists

We made our way down the scary elevator and out into the early London morning. It was another warm day and the streets were bustling with tourists and Londoners alike. This city reminds me a lot of NY in that sense. Just with the cars on the wrong side of the road.

After a few near misses from not looking the right way to cross the street, we walked along the Thames. We came upon a wide open field and the landmarks of Westminster were waiting patienly in the distance.

After a few moments of camera snapping, we decided to get some lunch and prepare for the trek to Heathrow. Along with the usual landmarks, I was fascinated by the anti-war sentiment. Sometimes I forget that it was the US and the UK that waged this unfair and illegal war.
